Father of Vice-Chair of the FCT Council and Six Others Abducted

In Yewuti village within the council, gunmen have taken five people, including a pregnant woman and the father of Alhaji Mohammed Yakubu, the Vice Chairman of the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.

It was discovered that Hussaini Kure, a peasant, had been shot and killed in the assault.
Recall that on April 22, 2023, kidnappers attacked Yewuti, the hometown of Alhaji Zubairu Jibrin Yewuti, a former Vice Chairman of Kwali, abducting 29 residents.

A neighbour named Ibrahim Danjuma confirmed the most recent event, saying that at around one in the morning, a group of gunmen with AK-47 weapons broke into three homes, including the vice chairman’s father’s, and took him and six other people with them.

“Unfortunately, Hussaini Kure, one of the villagers who attempted to escape, was shot dead by the gunmen,” he continued.
The Etsu Yewuti, Mohammed Isyaku, who confirmed the new attack, claimed the community was afraid as a result of the gunshots during the attack.

He pleaded with the council’s officials to intervene on behalf of his subjects by coordinating with the appropriate security personnel to find a way to free the kidnapped victims.

This is depressing and disturbing, he said. This is the third attack that our town has seen this year. I’m pleading with the appropriate security services to assist us in rescuing the kidnapped victims; one of them is a pregnant woman.

The kidnappers have requested a N30 million ransom, and reporters were informed by a victim’s relative, who wants to remain anonymous, that talks are still in progress.

When reached, SP Adeh Josephine, a spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, stated she was in church but would check in and get back to our reporter.
