In a surprising revelation, Reverend Father Benedict Onyemechalu, a Catholic Priest and accomplished Gospel artist, popularly known as FadaBen, unveiled an unconventional source of creative inspiration – driving. The clergy, who is also the Parish Priest of St Andrew Catholic Church in Orozo, Abuja, shared insights into his unique creative process in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday.

FadaBen the Gospel artist, recognized for his dual roles as a spiritual leader and a talented songwriter and music producer, disclosed that driving serves as a channel for his creative birthing. The recently released album, ‘The Magic is in You,’ stands as a testament to this distinctive approach.
The clergyman expressed that many of his songs originated as ideas while he was behind the wheel, emphasizing that driving is not just a necessity but a cherished hobby that fuels his artistic expression.
Despite the Gospel artist commitment to the spiritual duties at St Andrew Catholic Church, FadaBen has carved a niche for himself in the music industry, with numerous records to his name. His new album, ‘The Magic is in You,’ is making waves, and FadaBen assured fans that his music is easily accessible on various digital streaming platforms, including YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, Audiomack, Boomplay, and SoundCloud.
Looking ahead to the future of his music career, the clergy expressed aspirations of reaching broader audiences in the next five years. FadaBen hopes to see his songs and sounds resonating in places he may not have initially envisioned, aiming for widespread recognition and appreciation.
“I love to drive. Driving is a hobby for me, as well as a channel of creative birthing to a life of ideas and many other stuff.
“The moment I drive in that relaxed disposition, I get to come back home with nothing less than a song or two, depending on the distance covered.
“I believe that the human person is a creative entity. We are all born creative, but some of us just don’t get to realise that from birth even till death.
“Some get to connect to their creative selves at the evening of their lives while others, like some of us, get to discover and explore theirs early enough,” FadaBen said.
He stressed that music to him is a channel of self-expression and when he is “pregnant” with musical ideas, he will be so restless until he expresses them.
