Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has issued a directive for the swift review of the ongoing staff audit in the state’s public service. In a joint meeting with labor leaders and the auditing firm, the governor emphasized the need to address all concerns and establish acceptable procedures to ensure a smooth and hassle-free exercise.
The governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, conveyed this information in a statement to journalists in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.
Previously, the staff audit exercise initiated by Governor Adeleke had encountered resistance, as state civil servants refused to undergo the audit and staged a walkout in protest.
Taking into account the feedback from labor representatives and other stakeholders, Governor Adeleke expressed his dissatisfaction with the inconveniences caused to public servants and instructed the Head of Service to make necessary adjustments to ensure the well-being and comfort of the workforce.
“I have taken note of the numerous comments and complaints from the public service. I have also carefully listened to all of you during this meeting. We must modify the procedures to ensure a mutually agreeable exercise. Let us remember that the purpose of this audit is to plug leaks and enhance staff welfare.”
