In a bold declaration, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has proclaimed himself the victor in the ongoing crisis that has engulfed the state. Asserting his continued authority, Governor Fubara stated that those fueling the unrest sought to oust him from office, but since he remains in charge, he considers himself the winner.
The clash revolves around a longstanding feud between Govt Fubara and the camp of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. This discord resulted in the factionalization of the state House of Assembly, with Wike’s loyalists filing an impeachment notice against Governor Fubara.
The situation escalated further when lawmakers loyal to Fubara defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, declaring their seats vacant. Intervening in the matter, President Bola Tinubu played a crucial role in facilitating the withdrawal of the impeachment notice and reaching resolutions.

Addressing the congregation at the crossover church service in Opobo Town, Governor Fubara asserted his victory, emphasizing that the ongoing crisis aimed to dampen the spirit of the people and hinder the state’s development. He encouraged the citizens not to be disheartened, assuring them that nothing would impede his administration’s successful governance.
Governor Fubara, expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his intervention, stated, “We are the winners because we are still signing with the red biro. As long as we are signing with the red biro, development will continue in Rivers State.”
Highlighting the solid foundation laid in God, Governor Fubara affirmed that nothing would obstruct his administration from reaching its destination. He assured the public of his unwavering commitment to the state’s welfare and thanked the people for their support.
In his sermon, Bishop Emmanuel Oko-Jaja focused on the 2024 theme, “I will never forget you,” promising divine restoration and stability for Nigeria. Governor Fubara pledged genuine support to President Bola Tinubu, acknowledging his crucial role in restoring peace to the state. The governor urged the people to trust his decisions, vowing to stand firm in their defense.
