Hospital: Doctor Swap Child In Ibadan Hospital.

fIn a startling revelation, 34-year-old Adediji Moses from Ogbomosho, Oyo State, has raised concerns about a potential child swap at birth at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH). Moses, a father of three, shared his distressing story on social media, claiming that his daughter, Esther Adediji, born in 2018, may have been swapped at birth.

According to Moses, the events unfolded when his wife, experiencing discomfort, was rushed to the hospital for a checkup. Due to a medical workers’ strike, they were redirected to LAUTECH, where the delivery took place. Post-delivery, they were informed that the child had jaundice and a brain condition requiring immediate treatment.

The shocking revelation came in 2021 when Esther fell ill, prompting a genotype test. Contrary to Moses and his wife’s genotypes (SC and AA, respectively), the test indicated that Esther had sickle cell disease (SS). Subsequent tests, including those conducted at the Sickle Cell Foundation in Lagos, consistently showed the same result.

In a bid to address the issue, Moses returned to LAUTECH, where additional tests were conducted, confirming Esther’s SS genotype. Frustrated and financially strained, Moses took to social media, appealing for public assistance and urging the Oyo State Government to intervene.

Moses insists on a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged swap. He emphasizes the need to identify the medical staff on duty during his wife’s delivery and those responsible for the potential mix-up.

When contacted, the spokesperson for LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Omotayo Ogunleye, stated on August 22, 2023, that investigations were ongoing. However, on December 21, 2023, Ogunleye informed our correspondent that the case had been transferred to the Ministry of Health, Oyo State.

Meanwhile, Moses faces additional challenges, including alleged threats from unidentified individuals warning him against pursuing the case further. Despite the ordeal, Moses now emphasizes his primary concern is the well-being of his family and the health of his daughter, expressing a desire for financial assistance rather than legal action.

The case continues to unfold, with Moses seeking support from the public and hoping for resolution and justice in the alleged child swap at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.
