Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has called on media aides appointed by his government to work diligently in publicizing the policies and programs of the state government to keep the public informed about government activities.
During an interactive meeting with media aides, including Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Personal Assistants on various media-related roles, the governor emphasized the importance of disseminating information about government policies and programs that directly impact the lives of the people.
The governor highlighted that his administration is implementing a range of policies and programs that have a significant bearing on the welfare of the state’s citizens, making it crucial to keep them informed.
Addressing Senior Special Reporters and Senior Reporters assigned to various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), the governor emphasized their role in supporting the dissemination of information about the activities of these agencies through social media platforms for wider public awareness.
Additionally, Governor Abba Yusuf urged media aides to engage in public enlightenment initiatives, particularly focusing on issues like the dangers of drug abuse among youth, especially women, and the promotion of a society free from social vices.
The Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, explained that the interactive session was organized to bring media aides together for brainstorming and to improve their performance. He stressed the commitment of the government to transparency and open communication, emphasizing that there is nothing to hide.
Commissioner Dantiye pledged the support of the Ministry of Information in facilitating the functions of the media appointees and assured them of cooperation from information officers at local government levels and MDAs to achieve the administration’s communication goals.
