The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a 32-year-old man, Gbenga Kolawole, for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in Adubi, Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state. The arrest followed a report from the victim’s mother.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, the suspect took advantage of the victim’s intoxicated state, taking her to a nearby bar shop, locking her in, and allegedly assaulting her. The incident was reportedly witnessed by one Sunday Ibrahim.
In a separate development, the police in Ogun State arrested one Alao James in Ilo Ota, Ota Local Government Area, for allegedly stealing a Toyota RAV4 SUV with the number plate MUS 580 JA, belonging to Elogie Polycarp. The vehicle was reported stolen from a car park in Gbagada, Lagos State.
The victim of the alleged rape is receiving medical attention, while the suspect has been arrested. All exhibits related to the stolen vehicle case will be handed over to the Gbagada Police Station, where the initial report was made.
