Nigerian Woman Tries to Sell Kidnapped Girl for N530,000

Blessing Jeremiah, 51, has been taken into custody by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly stealing a three-year-old girl from Niger State and trying to take her to a buyer who had paid her N530,000.

When the suspect attempted to board an opulent bus to take the child to Nnewi in Anambra State, she was apprehended. It was claimed that the suspect had stolen the child from her parents in the Tudun-Natsira neighborhood of Minna.

This was announced in a statement released on Friday by the state police public relations officer, Abiodun Wasiu. She also mentioned that the kidnapped girl child had been reunited with her parents.

According to Wasiu, on October 25, 2023, at approximately 1930 hours, a woman identified as Mrs. Blessing Jeremiah, 51, of Keteren-Gwari, Minna, was observed at an opulent bus park near Maitumbi bye-pass, Minna, attempting to board a bus carrying a three-year-old girl who was reportedly abducted.Officers from Tudun-Wada Division were dispatched to the park right away, where they apprehended the suspect along with the young girl. She admitted under questioning that on the same day, at around 1800 hours, she had taken Rahanat Abubakar, the child, from a compound in the Tudun-Natsira neighborhood of Minna.

While N230,000 was found on the suspect, she claimed that she planned to take the child to Mrs. Ejima in Nnewi, Anambra State, who had hired her to get a female child for her at the rate of N530,000.

“The girl child has been reunited with her family, but the case is still being investigated at SCID Minna as efforts to capture the aforementioned Mrs. Ejima continue.”
