Joseph Moureen, 36, was arrested by the police on Tuesday and charged with attacking a police officer by strangling him and causing bodily harm.
Moureen, whose address was omitted, is accused of assault and causing bodily harm on two counts.
However, the accused entered a not guilty plea to the offense.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. Olusegun Kokoye, the defendant assaulted Abdulkareem Abdulahi, a supernumerary police constable, without authorization while he was carrying out his official duties, in violation of Sections 174(B) and 173 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
The defendant was granted bail in the amount of N100,000 with two sureties who had to submit their bank verification numbers and photos, according to the magistrate, Mrs. S. O. Obasa.
Obasa postponed the discussion to September 27 for mention.
