“Law Professor Testifying in UNICAL Sex Scandal Case”

The University of Calabar sex scandal has taken on a legal aspect as the embattled Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Cyril Ndifon, has filed a lawsuit against the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, and other officers at the National Industrial Court in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.

However, the administration of the university informed the charged law professor that they will appear in court.
The law professor, who is currently on suspension, claimed he took the VC and others to court to seek reparation and cleanse his name from the slander campaign. He also accused the VC of funding the demonstration because she wanted him removed from his role as dean and from academia.

Prof. Dorathy Oluwagbemi-Jacob, the university’s registrar, has also entered the lawsuit with the VC, both on her own behalf and that of the panel members looking into allegations of wrongdoing made against him.
Prof. Cyril Ndifon (the claimant), the Vice Chancellor, University of Calabar, and three other people are defendants in the lawsuit with the case number NICN/CA/42/2023. Ndifon expressed his disgust over what he called “dragging his image into the mud even when he did nothing wrong.”

The defendants in an originating summons from the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Calabar Judicial Division Holden at Calabar, are required to cause an appearance to be entered in the summons within eight days of receiving the summons.

If the defendants fail to appear within the allotted time and at the location specified in the summons, the judge will issue an order and take whatever further action he or she deems appropriate and necessary.
