Stephen Monday was placed to the detention facility on Thursday by an Ikeja Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court after he was accused of defiling his lover’s 4-year-old daughter.
After accepting the plea on Monday, Justice Abiola Soladoye was remanded.
The Lagos State Government has filed a defilement of a child allegation against the defendant.
The defendant committed the crime on February 14, 2021, according to the Director of Public Prosecution, Dr. Babajide Martins, who testified in court during the defendant’s arraignment.
According to Martins, the incident happened at No. 5 Ayeloja in the Ikorodu neighborhood of Lagos State at around 5 a.m.
The defendant is claimed to have had carnal knowledge of the four-year-old girl, the DPP said the court.
The offense violated Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Law from 2015, the prosecution claims.
But the accused entered a not guilty plea.
Martins pleaded not guilty and then asked for a trial date.
As a result, Justice Soladoye ruled that the defendant should be held in custody while his bail is being satisfied.
