Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa faced criticism after participating in Christmas celebrations.
Members of the Muslim community expressed disapproval as Musa, a devout Muslim, shared a festive photo of his Christian second wife, Juliet Ejue, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. The Nigerian football star married Juliet in 2017, and their union, despite reported separation from his first wife, Jamila, has flourished with children.
Despite being a Muslim, his inclusive celebration drew negative comments from some Islamic adherents on social media. He shared a picture of his beautiful wife Juliet, clad in Christmas-themed pyjamas, with the following caption, “Compliments of the season🎄🎄🎄 This festive season, I pray that you experience true joy and peace and may things of celebration never cease from your household. Merry Christmas to you all 👏🎉.”
Musa, a committed Muslim as evident from his social media posts, puzzled some followers of the Islamic faith by actively participating in the celebratory customs of another religion.
Expressing their discontent through comments, some took the opportunity to lecture the Super Eagles captain, highlighting that Islamic principles discourage active involvement in the celebrations of different faiths. Additionally, there were prayers for Musa to consider converting his wife to Islam.
