The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended two suspects, Hassan Ismaila and Mohammed Sani, in connection with the death of their relative, who reportedly died from starvation. According to the police, the suspects allegedly tied the hands and legs of the deceased, identified as Sani, accusing him of witchcraft, and confined him in a room for an extended period until his demise.
Acting Commissioner of Police for the state, Shettima Mohammed, revealed this development at the command’s headquarters in Lafia on Monday. Mohammed stated that on November 30, 2023, the police received credible information about the incident, leading to the discovery that Sani had been tied and locked up, resulting in his death. The family hastily buried him on allegations of witchcraft.
Police operatives from ‘A’ Division, Lafia, swiftly responded, arresting the two suspects, Hassan Ismaila and Mohammed Sani. The police are actively pursuing additional individuals involved in what has been described as a “dastardly act.”
