NCS and Nigerian Navy Boost Collaboration Against Smuggling

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) don team up with the Nigerian Navy to tackle smuggling within the country’s waters. NCS Comptroller General, Bashir Adeniyi, yarn say the Navy fit maintain NCS vessels for border patrol to strengthen their fight against smuggling.

Adeniyi talk say, “We no need set up our own vessel maintenance unit wey go cost plenty money. We get government agency wey sabi do am, get capacity, and dem dey ready to help us. I don see the capacity wey dey Naval Dockyard, and we believe say we fit tap into am, enter agreement make dem manage the maintenance of our fleets.”

E talk say e dey important to increase NCS presence for coastal areas to reduce smuggling, especially if land borders dey well policed. “If we block land borders well and no get strong presence for our waters, smugglers fit use am waka. So, we need to fortify and increase our presence to stop those wey wan try smuggle through our waters,” Adeniyi yan.

Naval Dockyard MD, Rear Admiral Abolaji Orederu, talk say dem fit use their capacity for vessel maintenance and shipbuilding to support NCS operations. Both agencies agree say dem be strong partners to secure Nigerian borders against illegal trade. Customs CG talk say e hope to seal agreement make Navy fit service NCS patrol boats and cutters.
