Nigeria Aims for 6,000MW Electricity Generation

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, announced Nigeria’s target to generate 6,000 megawatts of electricity before the year’s end. Speaking during a ministerial address in Abuja, Adelabu highlighted achievements since President Bola Tinubu’s assumption of office in May 2023.

Acknowledging recent improvements, Adelabu noted the country’s power generation reached 5,000MW on May 3, 2024, the first time in three years. He emphasized ongoing infrastructural upgrades, including the Presidential Power Initiative, aimed at enhancing power assets in Nigeria.

Adelabu affirmed the government’s commitment to achieving the 6,000MW milestone, reflecting significant progress and optimism in Nigeria’s power sector.
