Gideon Obhakhan, a former Edo State Commissioner of Education and governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasized the importance of lobbying for the zoning of the 2024 governorship slot to Edo Central senatorial district. In a press conference held in Benin City, Obhakhan acknowledged the need for support from other districts due to Edo Central’s limited numerical strength in producing a governor. He emphasized the principles of fairness and equity and urged other zones to back the aspiration of Esan extraction in securing the governorship position after Governor Obaseki.
Obhakhan, highlighting his vision as a governorship candidate, expressed his focus on revitalizing the agricultural sector, improving infrastructure, and ensuring the development of accessible roads to enhance food production in the state. He also pledged to prioritize education if elected, underscoring its significance for the progress of Edo State.
