Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State, has vowed to hold President Bola Tinubu accountable for his campaign promises. Fayose expressed his commitment to monitor the government’s activities and offer constructive criticism when necessary.
Following a meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Fayose commended Tinubu’s performance thus far and urged Nigerians to support him. He emphasized that the time for campaigning is over, and it is now crucial to focus on governing the country.
When asked about his visit’s purpose, Fayose clarified that he is not seeking an appointment but rather aims to contribute to the administration’s success. He mentioned collaborating with other opposition party leaders like Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, and Nyesom Wike, former Governor of Rivers State, to work alongside Tinubu.
Fayose affirmed his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and emphasized his dedication to the party. He stressed that his support for Tinubu does not indicate a shift to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing the revival of the PDP, Fayose stated that he is committed to providing vibrant opposition and holding the government accountable. He emphasized his readiness to speak up if Tinubu fails to fulfill his promises, asserting his courage to confront challenges.
Fayose concluded by expressing optimism and calling on Nigerians to believe in a positive turnaround for the country.
