Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo, expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family of the late former Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who passed away on Wednesday. In a post on his social media handle, Osinbajo shared his condolences, expressing deep sadness over the loss of a brother and friend of over 40 years.
The ex-Vice President described Akeredolu as bold, courageous, forthright, fair-minded, kind, and God-fearing. He highlighted Akeredolu’s firm belief in democracy, justice, and the rule of law, as well as his passion for the security and economic advancement of the people of Ondo State.
The post also included prayers for the Almighty God to comfort Akeredolu’s family and the people of Ondo State in the face of this great loss. Akeredolu, aged 67, succumbed to complications arising from prostate cancer while undergoing treatment in a German hospital.
Following Akeredolu’s death, Lucky Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as the substantive governor of Ondo State on the same day.
