Osun state residents protest over alleged imposition of monarch

In the ancient town of Ekosin, Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, on Sunday morning, a crisis erupted over the alleged imposition of a traditional ruler.
There were reports that certain members of the Nyanbilolu Ruling House attacked key areas of the town and set fire to tires.

The Osun State government presented Kasali Olagunju as the Akosin of Ekosin earlier this week, and community members who saw the occurrence said they woke up to protests.

Witnesses to the development, the community’s residents, said they awoke to protests earlier this week over the Osun State Government’s introduction of Kasali Olagunju as the Akosin of Ekosin.

Their spokesperson, Kayode Asa, the ruling houses alleged that political office holders of the Ademola Adeleke administration had appointed Olagunju as Akosin.

They also charged the Ademola Adeleke administration’s appointees with careless and severe misuse of their positions of authority.

The ruling houses observed that the political office holders’ acts amounted to outright defiance of the law.
