“Oyetola: Tinubu’s Tribunal Victory is Permanent”

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will uphold President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 presidential election if his opponents choose to challenge the judgment of the President Election Petition Tribunal at the apex court.

Oyetola made these remarks during a reception held in his honor by his hometown, Iragbiji, Osun State, following his recent appointment as a minister. The former Osun State Governor commended the organizers of the event and emphasized the importance of peaceful politics and unity to achieve success.

Speaking in Yoruba, Oyetola congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his victory at the Tribunal and expressed his belief that the judgment was powerful and clear. He suggested that those who disagree should wait for another four years to attempt to contest the presidency again.

Regarding his role as Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Oyetola expressed his desire to maximize the country’s potential in the field of fishing. He recalled his personal experience of fishing in his youth and his love for fish. He noted that currently, foreigners are profiting from fishing in Nigerian waters and selling the catch in neighboring countries. He emphasized the need for Nigeria to tap into its fishing potential, highlighting the economic benefits it can bring.

Oyetola also mentioned the practice in Western countries where houses are built by riversides to facilitate fishing and noted that Nigeria has not fully harnessed its potential in this area. He pledged to work toward turning the situation around to benefit the country economically.
