Pat Utomi Says Nigeria Will Improve with Honest Leaders

Nigerian economist Pat Utomi has emphasized that the country’s fortunes will change when people of character hold positions of power. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Utomi highlighted Nigeria’s potential for greatness, citing its rich human capital as a key asset.

He lamented the decline of culture and values, attributing it to the collapse of important institutions like the judiciary and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Utomi stressed that strong institutions are vital for national progress, arguing that Nigeria’s judiciary has become unreliable and its electoral body remains weak.

Utomi called for a “values revolution,” urging the country to focus on rebuilding institutions that enforce the rule of law and elevate people with integrity into leadership. He expressed confidence that Nigeria can achieve this transformation, pointing to examples from history where nations have made similar progress.
