The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party have criticized the ₦55.5 billion proposed for maintaining the presidential fleet in the 2025 budget. The allocation covers engine overhauls, fueling, navigation, cleaning, and fumigation but has drawn backlash amid Nigeria’s economic challenges.
PDP’s South-West Chairman, Kamorudeen Ajisafe, questioned the priority, asking if more aircraft were being procured. Labour Party’s Abayomi Arabambi labeled the spending “inhuman,” pointing to the hardships many Nigerians face. Critics argue the funds could address pressing national needs.
Anti-corruption advocate Debo Adeniran described the spending as “profligate” and urged the government to prioritize citizens’ welfare over luxury expenses. Citizens are being called to demand accountability and break the cycle of wasteful leadership.
