Police in Delta detain 72 cultists, 7 armed robbers, and 13 kidnappers.

The Delta State Police command detained 72 alleged cultists, seven armed robbers, and thirteen kidnappers between July and September.

This was revealed by the state police commissioner, Mr. Wale Abass, in his briefing, who also mentioned that 286 rounds of ammunition were found at that time.

The state’s police chief also thanked the state legislature for supporting the order for citizens to refrain from committing acts of “jungle justice.”

The state government’s persistent support for the command, he said, had to be acknowledged. He also praised the various sister security agencies for their ongoing cooperation with the Command.I want to utilize this platform to caution our youngsters from practicing “jungle justice.” In addition to being harsh, jungle justice is a self-help measure. It exacerbates a cycle of violence and lawlessness, undermining any chance of the victims’ basic human rights being upheld.

Self-help victims are frequently assaulted on the basis of unfounded accusations without being given the opportunity for a fair trial. The Command will no longer accept this violation of human rights, and anyone found guilty of it will be found, apprehended, and punished in accordance with the law.
