Eight travelers were ambushed and robbed in Ondo town of N16 million in cash and other valuables by seven alleged armed bandits.
The passengers were allegedly traveling from Onisha, in the state of Anambra, to ilesha, in the state of Osun, when they were robbed upon arrival at Ondo town.
The driver and eight passengers in a Previa bus with the registration number FKJ 777 YF, who were traveling from the Onitsha market square in Anambra State to Ilesha, Osun State, while carrying bags of stockfish, chairs, motor spare parts, and a sum of N16 million, were ambushed at Ondo town along the Ayeyemi area, according to police spokesperson Odunlami.
Seven armed robbers who were equipped with rifles, a cutlass, and sticks stopped the car, robbed the occupants, and took away the items in question.
Her statement that “The Police was able to arrest the culprits at the point of sales of some of the products in Ondo town” According to Odunlami, the individuals who were detained confessed to committing the crime.
After a thorough investigation, the suspects would be charged in court, she stated.
