Security Breach: Prisoners Roam Freely as Power Outage Unlocks Gates for Days

When a power outage left the prison’s gates open for up to two days in the united kingdom, LAGS were able to enter and exit the facility without restriction.

At all hours, prisoners roamed the grounds unattended, as the guards were too afraid to patrol in the dark.
Moreover, lights and CCTV were turned off by the power outage.

At Ford Open Prison in West Sussex, a source said that prisoners came and went at will and smuggled contraband in while it was dark.

There were then found to be two Bowie knives, sixteen iPhones, and twenty-two liters of Jamaican rum on top of drugs.

Two backup generators, however, are thought to have failed. As they were left without lights, hot water, or a TV, the almost 400 male cons became enraged. The jail was searched by a specialized outside unit after the electricity was eventually turned back on.

The theft and mayhem that the prisoners had been up to were only then uncovered by prison leaders.

“Jail bosses are in a complete flap; it’s been absolute chaos,” the person claimed.

The jail’s backup generators failed, not the prison, which is why there was an electricity outage.

In the dark, prisoners produced hay, and staff members were cautious about doing their jobs and patrolling during the night.

“Cons were using mobile phones to make calls to friends and family while meandering over the grounds at night. It was a complete mayhem, one large holiday camp.

When the electricity eventually came back on, it was only after a search of the jail that the administrators realized how much fun the inmates were having.

“Someone had seemingly brought back large amounts of drink and drugs after strolling out of the prison.”
