Social Media Mourns Akeredolu’s Death.

As news of the passing of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, spreads, users on the social media app X and Facebook have taken to their platforms to express their sadness, share well-wishes, and reflect on the lessons learned from the late governor’s life.

According to sources, Governor Akeredolu, aged 67, succumbed to illness on Wednesday. While arrangements are reportedly underway to swear in his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the state government is yet to officially address the matter.

Akeredolu had been battling cancer and sought treatment in Germany. On December 13, 2023, Findwhosabi reported his return to Germany for further medical attention. The governor’s spokesperson, Richard Olatunde, had announced that Akeredolu would transmit a letter to the state House of Assembly, handing over power to Aiyedatiwa.

Social Media have flooded the platforms with heartfelt messages. @realKingKuroO on X tweeted, “The end of an era, my heart and thoughts go out to his family and the good people of Ondo State, in this moment of mourning. Adieu.”

@ComradeBombole1 on X expressed hope for forgiveness, writing, “I hope people forgive him for all his wrongdoings as a leader… May God forgive him for all his shortcomings.”

On Social Media, Elvis Ohiwere wrote, “A great man he was and who never failed to speak to power! I presume there is more to his death than meets the eye; however, everyone shall give an account of stewardship someday. Adieu, great man, and may your soul rest in perfect peace.”

The social media reactions reflect a mix of condolences, reflections on Akeredolu’s leadership, and expressions of sorrow over the loss of a prominent figure. The legacy of the late governor will undoubtedly be remembered and discussed across various digital platforms. May his soul rest in peace.
