Supreme Court Denies CJN’s Involvement in Election Petition Controversy

The Supreme Court has issued a clear statement, refuting any claims of a telephone conversation between the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, and President Bola Tinubu regarding the ongoing Presidential Election Petition on the 2023 election.

In the statement, the apex court emphasized that Justice Ariwoola had not spoken with either Tinubu or the Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS) to exert pressure on the Tribunal’s judgment concerning the petitions.

The Director of Press and Information at the Supreme Court, Dr. Akande Festus, called for a focus on the legitimate proceedings at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal rather than engaging in baseless speculations and rumor-mongering. Upholding the rule of law and the Nigerian Constitution remains the court’s priority, ensuring that justice is served impartially, without favoring any party.

The Supreme Court urges everyone to cooperate with the judiciary to advance the nation’s progress, assuring that all matters pending in courts nationwide will be handled fairly and transparently, regardless of the individuals involved.
