Tinubu Extends Free Abuja Metro Rides Until Year’s End

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to extend the free train rides on the Abuja Rail Mass Transit for six more months, continuing until the end of the year. This announcement was made during the inauguration of the Abuja metro rail operations on Wednesday.

Initially, the FCT Minister had announced a two-month period of free rides to ease commuting for FCT residents. However, President Tinubu appealed for an extension, emphasizing the importance of providing hope and relief to the people. “I appeal to you to make it till the end of the year,” Tinubu stated during his address.

Minister Wike highlighted that the free rides are part of President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda. The initiative, aimed at alleviating the commuting burden, began shortly after the inauguration, marking the start of commercial operations for the Abuja light rail service.
