The Presidency stated on Tuesday that President Bola Tinubu has been monitoring domestic developments and is aware of the country’s security situation, contrary to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s claims.
It further stated that Tinubu did not go without telling Nigerians of his location and that he declared a private trip to France with a return date.
This was revealed in a State House statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
The statement was in response to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s criticism of Tinubu for neglecting to address the country’s security crisis.
Atiku was responding to a recent increase in the kidnapping and murdering of individuals across the country, including the murder of a nursing mother and her mother in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the murder of two monarchs in Ekiti State.
He pondered why the president went on a private tour to France amidst the country’s raging instability.
Onanuga, on the other hand, called Atiku’s statement risky, alleging it fell short of what an elder statesman should have said.
He stated that, contrary to Atiku’s claims, Tinubu is in daily communication with his staff and security leaders and has directed them to eradicate all forms of criminality in the country.
