“Tribunal Dismisses Petitions Against Two PDP Kaduna Reps Members”

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Kaduna State has rejected petitions brought against two People Democratic Party (PDP) members of the House of Representatives. David Umar Gurara of Kachia/Kagarko and Bashir Shadow of Kauru Federal Constituency had their victories affirmed.

The petitions were filed by All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates, Gabriel Haar Zock and Mukhtar Zakari. Gabriel’s petition claimed that 43 polling units didn’t conduct elections, demanding nullification and fresh polls. Mukhtar alleged that Shadow presented a forged certificate, asking for a certificate of return.

The Tribunal’s Chairman, Justice H.H Kereng, dismissed the petition by Gabriel Haar Zock due to lack of credible evidence. Meanwhile, Justice Abdu Maiwada Abubakar dismissed Mukhtar Zakari’s petition against Bashir Shadow for lack of merit.

The tribunal showed leniency by not imposing fines on the petitioners despite the time spent on the cases. Lead counsel Kassai Jessy confirmed that the petitions were dismissed for lacking merit.
