Troops Capture Suspected Woman Killer in Kaduna

Troops from Operation Safe Haven have apprehended the suspected murderer of Mrs. Dorathy Jonathan in the Southern Kaduna region of Kaduna State, as reported by the Nigerian Army.

According to the army, Mrs. Dorathy Jonathan was brutally murdered on Friday, September 1, 2023, while she was fetching firewood at Afana village in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of the state.

The Nigerian Army conveyed this information through a tweet from their official handle, @HQNigerianArmy, on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.

The statement released by the army read, “In line with Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) Major General AE Abubakar’s commitment to bringing all perpetrators of crime to justice in Southern Kaduna and its environs, following the stakeholders’ engagement on September 10, 2023, troops of OPSH have captured the murderer of one Mrs. Dorathy Jonathan in the Southern Kaduna area of Kaduna State, who was murdered on Friday, September 1, 2023, in cold blood while fetching firewood at Afana village in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of the State.”

The army stated that the alleged perpetrator, Lot Dauda, had confessed to the crime, and an accomplice (whose name was withheld) is currently at large. Dauda was apprehended as a result of a manhunt launched by troops of OPSH based on credible intelligence.

Dauda revealed that he had approached the victim while she was working on a farmland with the intention of forcing himself on her. He claimed that a struggle ensued between them, leading to her tragic murder.

The army further stated that efforts are underway to apprehend Dauda’s accomplice, and once the investigation is complete, the arrested suspect will be charged in court.
