“Troops Save 29 Kidnapped Citizens from Terrorists”

Nigerian Army forces have successfully rescued 29 individuals who were kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists in separate operations carried out in Borno and Kaduna states. The operations took place between August 26 and 28, 2023, in collaboration with Hybrid forces.

According to a statement by Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, 25 people were rescued in Borno, while four were freed in Kaduna. All rescued victims are now under the custody of the troops.

The statement detailed the operations: “Troops of 144 Battalion successfully rescued 14 hostages in Gobara village, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno state, including six women and eight children. Additionally, 11 civilians were rescued by troops of 82 Task Force Battalion in Gava Village, Gwoza Local Government Area.”

Furthermore, seven members of a Boko Haram terrorist family surrendered to troops in a separate operation. In Kaduna, troops neutralized a bandit and rescued four kidnapped victims in Kwana Shehu Village, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.

The rescued individuals have been reunited with their families. The Nigerian Army continues its efforts to combat insurgency and maintain security in the region.
