Youths in Araromi-Obu Demand LCDA Nominee Change

The youth community of Araromi Obu in Ondo State has issued an appeal to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, urging the replacement of the caretaker chairman and vice-chairman nominated for the newly established Ifesowapo Local Council Development Area (LCDA). Expressing their discontent, the youths emphasized that the nominated individuals are non-indigenes of the area and are not acceptable to the people of Araromi-Obu.

The state House of Assembly had recently screened and approved 51 nominees for the Interim Management Committee of the 18 local governments and LCDAs in Ondo State. These nominees, appointed by Governor Akeredolu, are tasked with managing the affairs of the councils until the local government elections scheduled for February 2024.

In a statement made by the Youth President of Araromi-Obu, Mr. Dayo Akinro, he conveyed the community’s dissatisfaction with the appointments, asserting that the choices did not align with the principles of fairness and local representation. Akinro expressed concern that having non-indigenes as the pioneer leaders of the council contradicted the sense of belonging and fairness that the community members deserved.

Akinro highlighted the perceived insult to the collective sensibility of the community and suggested that the nominations might perpetuate historical conspiracies against the interests of Araromi-Obu. The youth president called for the immediate withdrawal of the nominations and urged Governor Akeredolu to replace the appointees with indigenes of Araromi-Obu, emphasizing the importance of fairness and justice.

The appeal concluded by referencing Governor Akeredolu’s commitment to fighting against injustice in national affairs and expressed hope that the governor would address the concerns raised by the Araromi-Obu community promptly. Findwhosabi News will continue to monitor developments related to this appeal and provide updates as necessary.
