Aviation unions have warned they will shut down all airports in Nigeria from March 31, 2025, unless the government removes a customs officer accused of assaulting a senior aviation security official. The unions, including NUATE, ATSSSAN, and ANAP, say they are fed up with repeated attacks on Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) staff.
In a joint statement, the unions demanded immediate action to reduce the number of customs officers at airports, aligning with global standards. They stressed the need for mutual respect between FAAN staff and security agencies, warning that airport workers will withdraw their services if their concerns are not addressed.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Customs Service has described the incident as a misunderstanding over equipment movement and seating arrangements. However, the unions insist that unless their demands are met, a major disruption in aviation services is
imminent.
