Lagos, Osun, Oyo, and Ogun Declare August 20 Public Holiday for Isese Day

The governments of Lagos, Osun, Oyo, and Ogun States have declared Tuesday, August 20, a public holiday to celebrate Isese Day, a day dedicated to traditional religious festivities. The announcements were made by each state’s government to honor and support cultural heritage.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun, and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun all emphasized the importance of this day for traditional worshippers. They encouraged citizens to use the day to pray for peace and unity in their respective states and the country.

The public holiday reflects the commitment of these state governments to promoting religious inclusivity and preserving the cultural traditions of their people. Work will resume in the states on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
