Kidnapped kogi university students killed

On Sunday, the Kogi police command affirmed that two of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, students who had been kidnapped had died.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja, State Police Commissioner Mr. Bethrand Onuoha made this statement.
Onuoha expressed regret over the killings committed by their kidnappers.

Nonetheless, the CP withheld the specifics of the murder and stated that security personnel were pursuing the kidnappers in an attempt to apprehend them.

Around 9:00 p.m. on May 9, while the students were preparing for their exams on May 13, kidnappers broke into the school and took some of the pupils hostage after firing intermittent gunfire into the air.

Some of the kidnapped students remained in the hands of their captors, despite the fact that security agencies had managed to free 21 of them with the aid of neighborhood hunters.

Education For All (E4A), a non-governmental organization, denounced the killings of the two students despite the fact that talks to pay a ransom for their release were still going on.

In a statement made in Lokoja, the NGO’s publicity secretary, Malam Nasir Ibrahim, said as much. He called the killing the height of callousness.

He claimed that it was terrible because the kidnappers wanted to scare children away from attending school.

It is regrettable that two of the students who were not among the 21 who were saved by the Kogi government’s operation were killed by the criminals.

“However, the specifics of their abduction and subsequent tracking by security services to a forest in Kwara State remain unclear. This is a depressing, heartless for coordinated action against those who target educational institutions.

“We are aware that the parents of the pupils were negotiating with the kidnappers, which caused security authorities to scale back their attack against them in order to protect the prisoners’ lives.

At the conclusion of the negotiations, “we were very hopeful and optimistic that they will be released,” he stated.
Ibrahim said, “According to information that has reached us, the students who were allegedly killed were Musa Hussein, a 100-level student studying software engineering at the university, and James Michael Anajuwe, a 100-level student studying information technology.

“They were supposedly killed at the Kwara hideout of the kidnappers.

“We are devastated and heartbroken that these bright students were lost in spite of the efforts of the parents, NGOs, and the state government.”

In order to take decisive action against the offenders, who are allegedly hiding in a forest in Kwara, which is very close to Kogi and Ekiti States, he called on the Kogi government to collaborate with its counterpart in Kwara.
