Supreme Court Confirms Mbah’s Enugu Governor Election Win (Updated)

The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Uche Nnaji, challenging the victory of Governor Peter Mbah in the last Enugu State governorship election.

Governor Peter Mbah, who ran as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, secured victory with 160,895 votes, while Uche Nnaji of the APC received 14,575 votes, placing fourth in the election.

In his petition, Nnaji sought to disqualify Mbah, Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party, and Frank Nweke Jr. of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, alleging violations of asset declaration laws. However, both the Enugu State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal and the Court of Appeal had previously dismissed his petition.

The Supreme Court upheld these decisions, citing an invalid brief of argument from the APC and Nnaji and a lack of convincing reasons to allow their appeal.
